Art students at Halverson Elementary School have been talking about famous artist Wayne Thiebaud, according to a press release. He was famously known for his realistic paintings of desserts. As a connection to Thiebaud, the fifth grade created a realistic sculpture of a donut using clay. The project teaches the standards of demonstrating additive and subtractive processes to make a sculptural form; and creating artwork that demonstrates a type of balance — such as radial, symmetrical or asymmetrical.
