Karen Hendricks, 1940-2017

Karen Lynn Hendricks, 76, of Minneapolis, formerly of Rochester, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, at Walker Methodist Health Center in Minneapolis. Private family services will take place in Minneapolis. Interment will be in Our Saviors Lutheran Cemetery in Kiester. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Walker Methodist Foundation, 3737 Bryant Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55409-1099.
Karen was born on June 13, 1940, in Albert Lea to Clarence C. and Myrtle (Dunbar) Johnson. Karen was a graduate of Kiester High School. Karen’s first marriage was to Robert Fitzgerald in spring 1963. Her second marriage was to James Wallace Hendricks in spring 1970.
Karen retired from Rochester Methodist Hospital. Karen enjoyed music, including playing piano and singing. Highlights of her day at Walker Methodist included visiting and socializing with people. Every conversation centered around her family — especially her sons.
Karen is survived by her sons Richard Fitzgerald of Kiester and Jamie Hendricks and special friend, Francella Kraft, of Grants Pass, Oregon; siblings Larry (Judy) Johnson of Bloomington, Neil (Ann) Johnson of Shakopee, Kristie (Dan) Slavin of St. Charles and Kirk (Michelle) Johnson of Davis, California; and nieces and nephews Jill (Piet) Gasterland, Jared (Janelle) Johnson, Erin, Cori and Derek Johnson, Dan (Kristen) Smith, Lee Smith, Chuck Smith, Mac Slavin and Zachary, and Madison Johnson.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
Arrangements are with Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery.
