Funeral services for Gwendolyn Mae Tatarek of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Russell Scepaniak will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery.

Gwen died Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at Mission Regional Hospital in Mission, Texas. She was 80.

Gwen was born Aug. 25, 1936, in Albert Lea, the daughter of William and Juanita (Hutchinson) Evans. She graduated from Albert Lea High School and was united in marriage to Andrew Tatarek on July 9, 1955, in Albert Lea.

Gwen was an active member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. She had been employed as an accountant for Evans Motors in Albert Lea and was a full-time mother.

Gwen was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader for many years, loved to travel — having been to all 50 states and most of Canada — enjoyed bowling, golfing, swimming and biking. She spent over 20 winters in Texas with her husband.

Gwen is survived by her husband, Andrew, of Albert Lea; children Dale (Jeanne) Tatarek of St. Louis Park, Thomas (Peggy) Tatarek of Lino Lakes, Timothy (Naomi) Tatarek of Eagan, Susan (Greg) Sjodahl of Crystal, Nancy Tatarek of Albert Lea and Karen (Scott) Dubak of Frisco, Texas. Grandchildren include David, Elaine (Joe), Christopher (Renee), Kelsey, Nathaniel (Jamie), Zachary (Amy), Nicole, Patrick (Arianne), Kayla, Natalie and Tyler. There are three great-grandchildren, Justus, Alex and Dominic. Sisters-in-law surviving are Mary Ann Evans of Forest City, Iowa, and Joanne Evans of Albert Lea.

She was preceded in death by her parents William and Juanita Evans and brothers Kenneth, Eugene and Keith Evans.
