Judith Quam, 1951-2017

Judith ‘Judy’ Quam, 65, of Austin died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Judy Goodmanson was born May 1, 1951, in Austin to Gilbert and Elva (Hilkemeier) Goodmanson. She grew up in Corning and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1969 before attending Austin Community College for two years. Judy continued her education at Mankato State, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. From 1971 to 1990, Judy taught special education in the Albert Lea School District.
On October 7, 1972, she was united in marriage to Larry Quam at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church in rural Austin. Judy enjoyed following sports — especially the Minnesota Twins. An outdoor lover, Judy spent her leisure time fishing, gardening and enjoying the outdoors with her family. Due to health issues, she was recently unable to do many of her favorite activities. She spent many years on dialysis in Albert Lea.
Judy is survived by her husband, Larry Quam, of Austin; her children Greg Quam and Tammy Quam (Geoff Pepper), all of Austin; two grandchildren, Alec and Kyler Pepper; two brothers, Gary (Pat) Goodmanson of Elk River and Curt Goodmanson of Owatonna; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elva and Gilbert.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. The Rev. Susan Li will officiate. The Quam family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Worlein Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
