Marjorie Wendt, 1940-2017

Funeral services for Marjorie “Margie” Wendt will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, 2210 E. Main St. in Albert Lea. The Rev. Matt Hundley will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea.
Marjorie Ann Wendt died Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea at the age of 76.
Margie was born May 27, 1940, to Felix and Gladys (Erickson) Wendt in Mankato. She graduated from Mankato (West) High School. She moved to Wonewoc, Wisconsin. Margie got married, had three daughters, was later divorced and moved to Albert Lea in 1970. She had jobs at Wilson & Co., Farmstead and Hormel as a line worker.
Margie was quick-witted and loved to dance to rock ’n’ roll music. Margie was an immaculate housekeeper and loved working in her garden and canning her vegetables. In her free time, she enjoyed doing crafts — such as knitting or teaching her daughters to crochet.
She will be fondly remembered by her family. Survivors include her daughters Jodi (Gary) Herfendal of Hollandale and Heidi (Brian) Beckel of Good Thunder and their daughter, Hannah; sisters Vivian (Charles E.) Peterson of Albert Lea, Jean Marie Par of Mankato and Kathy (Roger) Reb of Owatonna; stepbrother, Fred Pongratz Jr., of Mankato; half-brother, Calvin Wendt, of northern Wisconsin; uncle, Guy Erickson, of Mankato; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Felix J. Wendt and Gladys L. Pongratz; daughter, Wendy Huebel; grandson, Tony Herfendal; aunt, Netti Erickson; and numerous other relatives.
