A Wells man charged with waving a machete at people last year was sentenced to nearly two years in prison on Monday in Faribault County District Court.

Justin Phillip Crowe, 29, was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to felony terroristic threats last month. He was given credit for 150 days served.

Crowe was ordered to serve his sentence at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud.

Court documents state Crowe was charged after three people at a Wells address stated Crowe did not speak to them but drew and waved a machete-type knife approximately 2 feet in length at them while they were outside on Oct. 22, 2016.

An officer reportedly found Crowe with what appeared to be a machete in his hand while the officer was driving down an alley.

Crowe reportedly threatened the officer and took a few steps toward him after exiting an attached garage before the officer deployed his Taser.

Crowe also received sentences Monday in two separate files.

He received nearly two years in prison for domestic assault by strangulation and was given credit for 213 days served. He received a stay of imposition sentence on the file in April 2016.

Crowe was sentenced to 365 days in jail for second-degree driving while intoxicated in a separate file. He was given credit for 233 days served, and the sentence was to run concurrent with the other files.
