Letter: Stop offending with signs

People have started using the word “offensive” a lot in the past couple of years to show their feelings toward such things as singing the national anthem, to having an American flag flying on their property, to saying merry Christmas, or even Christmas in general. Well, I don’t care if I offend people with things like that and neither should anyone else. What we should all be offended at, except maybe those who have had trouble with the sheriff’s department, is the incessant whining by Mr. Prinzing because the sheriff didn’t come running when he found himself being “harassed” by a drug agency with whom the sheriff has no control over.
Because Mr. Prinzing thinks of himself as more important than anybody else, he expects the sheriff to come running to save him, and when he didn’t, we now have to put up with his continued whining and calling our sheriff’s department crooked with a goon squad. Sounds like the only reason they’re being called “goons” is because he found himself in trouble and thought he had paid off the sheriff’s department enough and had a good enough friend to get himself out of harm’s way. That doesn’t work around here, and if it did, I’d be first in line to go after the sheriff’s department.
Now, every time I come into town I have to look at that stupid billboard with Mr. Prinzing’s welcome to the county with the crooked sheriff and his goon squad. It should be offensive to anyone who lives here, who want people to come here to visit or to maybe move a company to. People have a right to free speech, but when you put up something like this because you’re mad at one law enforcement agency for not running to your aid when another law enforcement agency comes knocking at your door, then it’s just childish. Also, now he put up a sign on his building for May being Mental Health Month, but he couldn’t help perverting that sign by putting another dig in to the sheriff. I think maybe the one who needs the mental health help is the one still complaining about something that happened last year. Mr. Prinzing, it’s time to grow up. People have forgotten and don’t care that there was a law enforcement agency checking out your business for drugs. We would have all forgotten it, except you won’t let it drop. If you have proof that our sheriff’s department is crooked and full of goons, bring your proof to the newspaper for investigation or to the county board or to the State Patrol or other state agency. Just stop offending other people in this county with your signs.
