It wasn’t a bad day to be United South Central’s Nick Fure.
The senior-to-be on the USC American Legion baseball team had about the finest day one could ask for as he drove in six runs and picked up the win on the mound.
Fure hit two home runs and finished 3-for-3 at the plate in a 14-3 win against Lake Crystal in the first game of a doubleheader Thursday in Wells.
Then he got it done on the mound as he threw six full innings and gave up three runs on four hits for a victory.
Kevin George added a two-run shot as he finished 2-for-3 while Dustin Dylla and Zach Wigern each went 2-for-3 with Wigern driving in two runs.
In the second game of the doubleheader USC (5-1) continued to roll as George continued to scorch the ball. George went 2-for-3 with a double and another home run and USC cruised to a 7-3 win.
Ned Kalis got the win on the mound as he went six innings, allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out six.
Zach Wigern went 2-for-3 again to finish the day 4-for-5 with four RBIs.
