Alfred Love, 1922-2017

Funeral services for Alfred A. Love of Albert Lea will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church of Albert Lea. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Military honors will be accorded by Albert Lea area veterans groups.

Alfred died Tuesday, May 20, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. He was 94.

Al was born Nov. 24, 1922, in Stillwater, the son of Arthur and Suzana (Schnitzler) Love. He attended public school in Stillwater. On Sept. 3, 1943, he was united in marriage to Norena Casperson in Chicago. They moved to Albert Lea in 1957. Al had been employed as a corrections officer at the Stillwater state prison for 10 years before becoming a state trooper for the Minnesota Highway Patrol, where he served for 22 years. He also served as a Freeborn County deputy for five years.

Alfred was a member of the Masonic Bodies, Osman Shriners and a lifetime member of the Albert Lea Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed golf, boating and automobiles.

Al is survived by his wife, Norena, of Albert Lea; son, James (Treasa) Love, of Albert Lea; daughter, Kay (David) Paulson, of Albert Lea; and grandchildren Tammy Paulson, Kimberly Barney, Jared (Paula) Paulson, Norena (Travis) Brekke and Michelle (Kevin) Tufte. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Charley and Pacey Brekke, Brooke and Tenley Tufte, Conner and Tyler Barney, Mayzie, Ryker and Bryxlie Paulson, and Samuel and Sophia Paulson; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and a brother in infancy; and sister-in-law, Gladys Love.
