The Tribune is putting the finishing touches on an annual publication that recognizes 20- and 30-year-olds in the area who are making a difference in their professions and community.

The publication, titled “30 Under 40,” will publish Wednesday, and we encourage readers to check it out.

Some of the people featured are in their first jobs after graduating from college; some have been in their positions for several years. Some have a passion for agriculture. Some have families; some don’t. Some live and work in Albert Lea, while others live outside of the city and drive into the city for work. Whatever the case, these individuals are someday going to be Albert Lea and Freeborn County’s leaders.

We encourage civic groups and service organizations to consider recruiting some of these people to your organizations. We hope, in turn, these people will seek out ways to better the community further. Many said they were looking for ways to get involved.

Young people can bring fresh ideas to the table and often have extra enthusiasm. Whether its organizations to better area youth, organizations that provide service opportunities or some other group, there are many ways people can better our beautiful city.

Anyone looking for ways to volunteer can contact the United Way of Freeborn County or the National Vitality Center.
