Emilie Laite, 1922-2017

Emilie Josephine Laite, 94, of Bricelyn, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at Traditions II in Owatonna. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bricelyn Lutheran Church in Bricelyn. The Rev. Nancy Dreier will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery. Emilie Laite

Emilie Josephine was born Sept. 27, 1922, the daughter of Swan and Isabelle (Twito) Greene. She married Leonard Laite March 26, 1941, in Northwood. The couple were married for 31 years when Leonard passed away. She had lived in California for a while when Leonard was in the Army during World War II. Emilie was a homemaker and was very proud of her gardening and all the canning she put up while raising her family. She had worked as a cook in various restaurants in the area. She had owned the Light House Café in Bricelyn for several years. After selling the Café, she worked as an aide in several nursing homes and worked as a live-in companion for several elderly ladies. Emilie loved to read, embroider, crochet and work crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed traveling.

Emilie is survived by her children, Charlotte Haberman of Blooming Prairie, LaRay (wife, Phyllis) Laite of Owatonna, Linda Laite (Jim Mills) of Bricelyn, Ronald (wife, Becky) Laite of Albert Lea, Colleen (husband, Jim) Wyant of Rake, Iowa; sister, Mildred Baumann of Rosemont; sister-in-law, Sarah (husband, Ken) Anderson of Albert Lea; 24 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Emilie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; daughter, Barbara Hagen; daughter-in-law, Genevieve Laite; sons-in-law Donald Haberman, and Ronald Hagen; grandchildren Terry, James and Josephine; three great-grandchildren; two sisters; one brother; and many in-laws.
