Fully Rely
on God

Fully Rely on God of Central Freeborn Lutheran Church in rural Albert Lea sponsored a bus trip to the 24th annual Lutheran night at the Twins on Aug. 8.

The full coach bus left from behind Slumberland in Albert Lea with 57 passengers from Albert Lea and surrounding communities, including New Richland, Ellendale, Geneva, Hayward, Glenville, Emmons, Alden, Wells, Conger, Walters and Lake Mills.

Drawings were done for prizes on the bus. The items were donated by Karen Film, Genie Hanson, Karen Borneman, Ruth Olson and the Twins organization.

Each of the passengers received a goodie bag which contained a baseball beanie baby, a $5 refund because all the seats on the bus were filled and coupons from Arby’s, KFC, Dairy Queen, Trumbles Family Restaurant and Applebee’s.

Twins-related prizes were also given away during the Deal or No Deal game which was played enroute to the stadium. Prizes included a fishing lure, cap, puzzle, 1991 homer hanky and a cowboy hat. Denise Knutson was the Deal or No Deal cash prize winner.

Younger passengers were treated to a recycling coloring book and crayons from Minnesota Corrugated Box.

Passengers Sue Barnes, Cindy Gaudian, Nancy Hoium and James Waltman helped lead in  the singing of the national anthem from centerfield prior to the start of the game.

Many of the passengers went outside the stadium to view the new statue of Tom Kelly, a former Twins manager.

The Twins came from behind  with the team ultimately hitting five home runs and the team’s first grand slam of the year. The final score was 11-4 with the Twins winning over the Milwaukee Brewers.
