The Albert Lea girls’ soccer team came away with its second win of the season against Mankato Loyola Saturday afternoon.

The lone goal for Albert Lea came in the closing moments of the first half. Freshman Lucy Sherman scored the goal off an assist from junior Alexis Rothmeier.

Although they didn’t find the back of the net in the second half, they more importantly kept the Crusaders out the entire match.

This was the second career shutout for sophomore goalie Marissa Vogt. Head coach Laura Wangen said she was excited about Vogt’s performance in the net, as well as the defensive help she received from many of her teammates.

The win will undoubtedly provide a surge of momentum, as the Albert Lea’s record climbs to 2-6. The Tigers will be back in action Tuesday evening when they travel to Red Wing to take on the Wingers.
