Memorial services for Carlton “Roger” Hanson, 81, of Albert Lea will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Roger died Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at his home.

Carlton “Roger” Hanson was born March 9, 1936, in Havana, North Dakota, the son of Halvor and Inga (Jones) Hanson. He grew up and attended school in Havana. On Nov. 9, 1963, Roger married Celia Kaye Engel in Kidder, South Dakota. He worked for many years at Thermo King. Roger enjoyed spending time with family, working in his yard, playing cards with his wife and watching the Vikings.

Roger is survived by his wife of 53 years, Celia Kaye Hanson; children Mark, Chris (Tammy), Mike and Susan; grandchildren Linzy, David, Shawn, Kenneth, Ashley (Justin), Miranda, Christopher James, Madalyn, Brynn, Natalee and Bradley; great-grandchildren Colten, Brendon and Griffin; brother, Loren (Mary Jean) Hanson; brother-in-law, David Engel; and many nieces and nephews.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents Halvor and Inga Hanson; mother-in-law, Ruth Engel; father-in-law, Oscar Engel; brother, Jerry Hanson; sister and brother-in-law Betty and Howard Livingston; and brothers-in-law Edwin Engel and Leo Engel.
