GENEVA — For a town with a population of a little over 500, Geneva has a lot to offer those in the community, and Geneva Bar & Grill owner Chelsea Hanson wants to keep it that way.

Along with supporting a number of events that benefit charity, Hanson wants to give those in the area one more reason to stop by the community. Throughout the year the bar hosts events, like pool and dart tournaments, to give their customers something to do.

The bar’s newest event is a cornhole, or bean bag, tournaments.

On Oct. 28, those 18 and over are invited to stop in and sign up for the tournament at 11 a.m. Teams will begin playing at noon. Patrons are welcome to stay for the Halloween party that will follow. The bar will host a costume contest and the band True North, who will perform at 8 p.m.

Cash prizes will be awarded for both the cornhole tournament and the costume contest.

The next cornhole tournament will take place Nov. 18 and will be in honor of the bar’s three-year anniversary of being owned by Hanson, and her husband, Greg. The signup for the event will also be at 11 a.m. with the tourney starting at noon.

The last tourney for the season will be Dec. 1, the night prior to the bar’s annual Geneva Game Feed. Both trophies and cash prizes will be awarded at the tournament.

Those interested in participating need not sign up in advance. Hanson said players can pay and play the same day.
