ACT to open season with the comedy ‘Rumors’

Albert Lea Community Theater will open its 53rd season with the comedy “Rumors” from Oct. 19 to Oct. 28 at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center.

Written by legendary comedic playwright Neil Simon, “Rumors” is a classic farce.

According to a press release, the comedy is about the deputy mayor of New York who has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples arrived for the deputy mayor’s wedding anniversary party. The host lies bleeding in the other room and his wife is nowhere in sight. A lawyer and his wife must get the story straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusions and miscommunications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.
