1. Pub crawl

Ready for a bicycle-powered pub crawl? The short ride begins at 4 p.m. Saturday at Martin’s Cycling & Fitness. Riders will finish at 112 on Broadway. Bring your bicycle and a friend.

2. October lecture series

What do you know about the “forgotten Kennedy”? Freeborn County Historical Museum, Library & Village presents “Rosemary Kennedy: A life with a lasting legacy for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” an event that is part of the museum’s October lecture series. The $5 lecture is presented by Kennedy enthusiast Trevor Drescher at 9 a.m. Saturday in the second floor museum meeting rooms.

3. ‘The Magic Flute’

Mozart and The Metropolitan Opera House in New York City are teaming up and streaming live to the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center at 11:55 a.m. Saturday.

Set in Egypt, Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” explores themes of love, heroism, the supernatural and, of course, the triumph of good over evil. The opera follows Tamino and Papageno as they work to rescue the Queen of the Night’s daughter, Pamina, from high priest Sarastro. “The Magic Flute” includes both singing and spoken dialogue, and the role of Queen of the Night is known for its challenging vocals.

4. RAD Zoo

The Reptile and Amphibian Discovery Zoo will visit the Albert Lea Public Library at 2 p.m. Sunday to educate families on numerous different creatures.

Oftentimes you will see snakes, turtles, lizards, geckos and maybe a baby crocodile. There will be time for children to pet the animals.

The show is expected to run for approximately one hour.

5. Hometown Pride Cleanup Day

Albert Lea residents are encouraged to do their fall clear-out from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Residents can haul one load to the Albert Lea transfer station and demolition landfill and will either be able to offload their items free of charge or at reduced rates.

People are asked to bring proof of city residence and should not bring commercial garbage.
