The Concordia Orchestra from Concordia College in Moorhead will present a concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at First Lutheran Church, 301 W. Clark St. in Albert Lea. The concert, sponsored by the First Lutheran Church music ministry, is open to the public with a freewill offering accepted.

According to a press release, the concert is part of the orchestra’s 2017 regional tour which also includes stops in Andover, Worthington, Wahpeton, North Dakota, and Des Moines and Waverly, Iowa.

The 2017 Concordia Orchestra, conducted by director of orchestral activities, Kevin F.E. Sutterlin, will perform “Die Fledermaus Overture” by Johann Strauss II, Franck’s “Symphony in D minor” and a commissioned piece by Concordia professor and composer Douglas Harbin titled, “And the Heavens Turned Black.”

The faculty soloist will be Gregory Hamilton, associate professor of cello and double bass, performing Bloch’s “Schelomo: Rhapsodie hebraique for Violoncello and Orchestra.”
