On Monday, the Albert Lea High School band department will present its first concert of the year, according to a press release. The performance will be at 7 p.m. in the Albert Lea High School auditorium and will feature the Tiger band, symphonic band and concert band.

Tickets are available at the door, and are $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Children preschool and under, as well as Albert Lea Area Schools staff and students with ID, get in free. There is also a $35 family pass available for purchase.  The pass is good for all band, choir and orchestra concerts for the rest of the school year.

The Tiger band, which is made up of mostly eighth- and ninth-grade students, will perform “Three Renaissance Dances,” arranged by John Moss, and “Aliens Landing (In Your Back Yard!) by John Prescott.

The symphonic band will perform three works, including Irving Berlin’s famous “God Bless America,” as well as “Barn Dance” by Carl Strommen.

The concert band, made up of mostly juniors and seniors, will perform three pieces. They include “Present Joys,” an arrangement of early hymn tunes by Walter S. Hartley; “Hambone,” a piece with vocal and body percussion by Libby Larsen; and the exciting “Venture” by Sean O’Loughlin.
