1. Holiday Bazaar

For those who would like to start their holiday shopping early, United Methodist Church’s annual holiday bazaar will feature vendors, a bake sale, holiday cafe and prizes. Proceeds go to support a youth mission trip. The bazaar runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

2. Disc golf doubles tournament

In an effort to raise money for new baskets at Riverland Community College, disc golfers are hosting a doubles tournament Saturday morning. It’s a nine-hole course at Edgewater Park followed by a chili lunch and bake sale. There will be four rounds, with doubles partners selected by random draw. Sign-up begins at 8:30 a.m., and play begins at 10 a.m.

3. Ice skating

November’s public skate schedule is out. Sunday night, lace up with your own skates or a pair of rentals and head over to Albert Lea City Arena between 6:30 and 8 p.m. for a few laps around the rink.

4. ‘Is There a Doctor in the House?’

Alden-Conger high school students take to the stage all weekend to present their fall play. The plot follows Lucy Canary, the mayor’s daughter who refuses to marry the man her father has chosen for her and suddenly loses her voice at the wedding altar before she can say her vows. Cue the doctors, each as silly as the last. The play runs at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and there’s a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday.

5. All-you-can-eat waffles

First Lutheran Church is serving up all-you-can-eat “Dad’s Belgian Waffles” Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The proceeds go toward sending girls to camp through the National TTT society, a nonprofit that sends girls to summer camp who may not have been able to go otherwise.
