An Albert Lea man charged with possessing more than 41 grams of methamphetamine last month pleaded not guilty Thursday in Freeborn County District Court.

Quinten Duane Amos, 36, is charged with meth possession.

Court documents state Amos was charged after a Minnesota state trooper was on duty the afternoon of Oct. 20 when he was informed a vehicle was being followed by South Central Drug Task Force members because they had probable cause to arrest an occupant for meth sales.

After the trooper pulled the car over near the Hartland and Geneva exit, the total weight of packages and bundles of meth seized was 41.5 grams, and nearly $27,150 was found.

Amos reportedly eventually admitted the meth was his.

Amos is charged with first-degree meth sale in a separate file after he allegedly sold about 18 grams of meth to someone who was undercover Oct. 11.

District Court Judge Steven Schwab set conditional bail at $75,000 for first-degree meth sale and $25,000 for methamphetamine possession.

As of Friday, Amos was in custody.

Contested omnibus hearings on the two files are scheduled for Nov. 29.
