A Northwood man who allegedly knocked someone unconscious in a fight last summer in Freeborn County was charged with a felony earlier this month in Freeborn County District Court.

Christopher Lon Rogers, 39, is charged with third-degree assault. His first appearance is scheduled Nov. 30.

Court documents state Rogers was charged after a Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched July 14 to Hunter’s Bar in Myrtle regarding an assault. The alleged victim was described as bleeding from his head after being punched. There was reportedly a pool of blood around him.

Court documents state one witness said the alleged victim lost consciousness for a time after being punched, while a second witness said Rogers hit the alleged victim, who was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea for his head injuries.

Surveillance video from the bar allegedly showed Rogers walk over to the alleged victim and punch him in the face after they exchanged words.

Third-degree assault carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

A mugshot of Rogers was not available at press time.
