The Falcons offense would prove to be too much to handle for the young Tigers team, as it went on to lose the matchup, 4-0.

The Falcons got the scoring started with a goal four minutes into the first period, and would add another one with five minutes remaining. The Tigers defense was able to hold strong at the end of the period, when they were short-handed after a penalty from senior Maddy Castens put her in the box.

Down by a score of 2-0, Albert Lea needed to score a goal in order to shift some momentum back in its favor. However, just a few minutes into the period, Albert Lea was hit with another penalty, giving Faribault the numbers advantage. Faribault would cash in on that opportunity about a minute later on a power-play goal to make it 0-3.

Albert Lea would have its own chance with multiple different power plays toward the end of the second period. However, its opportunities were derailed by penalties of their own, bringing the numbers back to even.

The Falcons would add one more goal before the second period was over to make it a four-point lead heading into the final period.

The Tigers defense would come out strong and finish the game by allowing zero goals in the third period, but the offensive attack was unable to find any open shots. The Tigers finished the game with 13 shots on goal.

Despite the Falcons scoring four goals, freshman Maddie Schneider had a stellar night in the net with a number of nice saves. By the end of the game she had 38 saves on 42 shots. Sophomore Angelina Minear also contributed to the saves with three of her own.

Albert Lea falls to 2-3 on the season and will look for retribution when the team travels to Rochester on Tuesday to take on the John Marshall Rockets.
