The No. 7-ranked Albert Lea wrestling team wasted no time in proving itself in its first year with new head coach Paul Durbahn.
The Tigers traveled to Hastings on Saturday, where they faced some top notch competition and came out on top.
Albert Lea had duals against No. 3 Prior Lake, No. 12 St. Francis, and Coon Rapids and won each of them.
The Tigers cruised to a victory over the No. 3 Lakers, 45-18. The dual win also included a decision win for No. 2 Zach Glazier over No. 1-ranked Kenny O’Neil, 3-1.
Albert Lea beat St. Francis, 38-28, and Coon Rapids 40-27.
Other notable wins for the Tigers came from Glazier, who had a technical fall and a pin on top of his defeat of No. 1 O’Neil. Junior Nic Cantu finished with one pin and two major decisions and freshman Caleb Talamantes recorded one pin. Full results can be found in the scoreboard.
Albert Lea starts the season 3-0 and will wrestle again on Thursday in Rochester against the John Marshall Rockets.
