GLENVILLE — The Glenville-Emmons girls’ basketball team came into its game on Monday night against Cleveland looking for its second win of the season. Despite finding open shots, the Wolverines were unable to make any of them find their target, as they fell to the Clippers, 60-15

The game got off to a rough start for the Wolverines as they weren’t able to score their first points until roughly seven minutes of game time had passed. The points came from sophomore Chloe Anderson at the free throw line. Their next points would be from sophomore Kennedy Severtson via a pull-up jumper with under a minute remaining in the half.

Glenville-Emmons would go to the locker rooms down, 31-4 to end the first half.

For the most part, the Wolverines were taking care of the ball and getting open looks at the basket; they were just unable to get those open shots to fall.

The Wolverines would come out in the second half using a big burst of momentum from junior Daniela Rizo. She scored the team’s first eight points in the second half. They would add three more points before the game was over with a long-range basket from Anderson.

“I think we came out lacking a lot of intensity and focus in the first half,” said head coach Lucas Knutson. “I told them ‘some nights the ball isn’t going to go in the basket, but that doesn’t mean we should quit hustling and stop trying, hopefully next time we can shoot a little better and get better at all the things that go into that.”

The Wolverines were lead in scoring by Rizo with eight points, Anderson had five and Severtson had two.

Glenville-Emmons will be back in action tonight as they host the  Grand Meadow Superlarks.
