Bennett Porter

Bennett Jay Porter Jr., 86, of Wayzata passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Jean “Jeanie” Porter (Borovsky); his parents Bennett J. Porter Sr. and Violet Porter; and brother and sister-in-law Craig and Jill Porter.
He will be deeply missed by children Bennett J. Porter III (Mary), Kristin Schaitberger (Chuck), Susan Porter and Tom Porter (Jonele); grandchildren Katie, Carie (Pat) Sarah, Andrew, Bennett, Matthew, Michael, Sophie and Will; great-grandson, William Bennett Mikkelson; and brother, Thayer Eugene Porter (Dorothy); along with other nieces and nephews.
Ben graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1951 and the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1961. He was founder and owner of Westgate Pet Clinic from 1971 to 1995. He proudly served in the Korean War as second lieutenant in the 8th Army 7th Infantry Division 15AAA, and was a lifetime member of Sgt. John Rice VFW Post 6316 in Blaine.
Visitation will start at 10 a.m. and a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow Thursday at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church, 630 E. Wayzata Boulevard, Wayzata, MN 55391. Private interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Presbyterian Homes-Folkestone Employee Education Fund.
