Letter: Tax plan won’t help average Joe

Published 10:26 pm Tuesday, December 19, 2017

Do you think Trump and those pesky Republicans will be able to snow the American people again with that trickle-down economics?

Trump says he wants to reduce the tax from 35 percent to 21 percent on those corporate business people. Now, I know you have heard that when taxes have been raised on those businesses that those businesses always add their cost on to the consumer.

Now, if they lower their taxes, are they going to pass their savings on to the consumer?  When have you ever heard of them doing that? I will answer that question. Never.

This is just another example as to where trickle-down economics is just a snow job.

If the Republicans really wanted to do something for the average Joe they would go along with the Democrats and raise the minimum wage.

Trump says, coming next February, everyone is going to see a raise in their paycheck due to his tax overhaul. If I were you, I wouldn’t spend it yet.

He says the average will be getting an extra $4,000 a year  next year. Trump’s tax reform has nothing to do with helping the average Joe. It has everything to do with helping the filthy rich get richer.

If you would sit down and try starting a list of anything the Republicans have ever done for you and the average Joe, you will find it difficult. I did, and the only thing I could  come up with was when President Eisenhower had the interstate highways built back in the 1950s. And you all know we all appreciate them.

Trump talks about the unemployment being so low and the stock market is doing so well;  why does he want to upset the applecart?

Take it from me; it is going to happen.
