The National Weather Service is advising of hazardous travel conditions this morning due to slick roads.
Areas of freezing drizzle will be possible, followed by accumulating snow.
So far, Albert Lea Area Schools, Alden-Conger Schools, Glenville-Emmons, Lake Mills Community Schools and Northwood-Kensett Community School District have canceled classes because of the weather.
Check back to the Tribune for more closures as they arise.
A winter storm warning that had been in effect for the area has been canceled. Albert Lea and the surrounding counties are now under a winter weather advisory until 6 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service, areas of poor visibility are possible, with total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow. Cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero will cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin, the Weather Service states.
