Steven Morreim, 1947-2017

Steven A. Morreim, 70, of Lehigh Acres, Florida, passed away tragically Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, in a fatal car accident in Lehigh Acres.
Born Feb. 2, 1947, in Albert Lea to Oscar and Gladys (Johnson) Morreim.
He was married to Janet Stokes on Nov. 24, 1979, in Marengo, Illinois.
He graduated from Mankato State University in Minnesota with a bachelor’s in mathematics and a master’s in physics. He served his country as a Marine during Vietnam.
After working for Carter-Day in Minneapolis and for Chicago Eastern in Marengo, he founded his own grain drying manufacturing company, QED Dryer Sales & Manufacturing Inc., in 1986. His family business has served the grain drying industry worldwide from the United States, Russia, New Zealand, Belize, India, Canada, etc. He was a member of the Grain Elevator and Processing Society for over 30 years. His business was a very important part of his life, so he treated everyone like family and loved with his whole heart. He gave freely and cared for those who needed a helping hand.
He raised his family in Belvidere, Illinois, and moved to Cherry Valley, Illinois, to spend the summer months close to his family. During the winters he would travel down to Lehigh Acres, where he spent his time woodworking, feeding the birds and designing artwork from sea glass with Tiffeny Morreim. He loved to fish throughout his life and enjoyed the marvels of science and science fiction.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Morreim; his daughters Dr. Stephanie Gorham, Nicole (Ronald) Fruit and Tiffeny Morreim; his son, Eric (Josephine) Morreim; and his two grandchildren, Noah Gorham and Dylan Morreim; along with his brother, Philip Morreim, of Albert Lea.
Preceding him in death were his parents Oscar and Gladys Morreim; and his brother, Roger Morreim.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 1 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services in Belvidere. A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 2 at New Life Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford, Illinois, with a lunch to follow.
