Storm watch worsens to warning

At least 6 to 8 inches of snow expected in Albert Lea
The National Weather Service’s winter storm watch for the Albert Lea area tonight through Monday has worsened to a winter storm warning.
According to the weather agency, total snow accumulation of 6 to 8 inches of snow is possible, with localized amounts of up to 10 inches. Ice accumulation of around one-tenth of an inch is possible in Freeborn County.
The winter storm warning is in effect from 9 p.m. today through Monday night.
Winds could gust as high as 35 mph, causing patchy blowing and drifting snow.
A blizzard warning is in effect from Mankato to the south and west, including Fairmont and St. James. These areas could receive 8 to 14 inches of snow by Monday evening and wind gusts of up to 40 mph during the heavy snow period.
Waseca and Steele Counties are expected to receive 9 to 12 inches with localized amounts over 12 inches.
