Surrounded by his family, Dean Henry Schwarz passed away peacefully at home and entered the kingdom of heaven on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018. Born on Sept. 7, 1930, in St. Clair, Dean grew up and attended school in Pemberton and graduated in 1948. After high school, Dean joined the United States Army, where he proudly served for four years.
Many fond military memories have been shared by Dean with family and friends over the years. Throughout his career, Dean worked as a refrigeration, heating and air-conditioning serviceman.
He married Shirley Muetzel in 1957 and they raised two children in Mankato and Albert Lea. Dean and Shirley moved to the country outside of Hartland in 1973, where they had a hobby farm.
Dean was loved by so many. He always had a warm smile on his face, was fun-loving and enjoyed life to the fullest. He often said he needed to keep his hands busy and was forever fixing or building along with hunting, fishing and camping, and many often marveled at the way he could dance! A lifetime dog lover, his most recent dog, Maggie, was his close companion.
Dean is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Schwarz) Johnston, and her husband, David Johnston, and their three daughters Alexandria (Chris), Rachel (Kevin) and Martha; his son, Dan Schwarz, and his wife, Lori (Johnson) Schwarz, and their two sons, Jacob and Joshua; his brother, Mert Schwarz; his brother, Alan Schwarz; and his very special friend, Dorothy Krassin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his sister, Louise (Schwarz) Cords; and his brother, Harold (Bob) Schwarz.
