Two suffer serious injuries in Freeborn County crash

Two people suffered serious injuries Saturday in a three-vehicle crash involving a semi on Interstate 35 in Freeborn County.

Alicia Marie Hargesheimer, 27, and Michelle Kay Hargesheimer, 55, both of Bloomington, were taken to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester with injuries deemed life-threatening. Bruce Allen Hargesheimer, 55, of Bloomington; Nicola Renea Hargesheimer, 30, of Luverne; and Sarah Marie Garneau, 7, of Clive, Iowa, were taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea with injuries deemed not life-threatening.

Bruce Hargesheimer was driving a 2002 GMC Envoy south on Interstate 35 one mile north of the Clarks Grove exit when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to lose control and go through the median. The GMC collided with a 2017 Infiniti utility SUV driven by Daniel Francis Garneau, 40, of Clive, who was driving north on the roadway.

The Infiniti reportedly then rolled over and came to a rest in the median.

A 2007 Peterbuilt 379 tractor driven by Kevin Wayne Griffing, 51, of Kansas City, Missouri, was heading north on Interstate 35 when it collided with the GMC, according to the report. Both vehicles came to rest in the east ditch of the roadway.

The crash reportedly occurred at 9:13 a.m.

Alicia, Michelle and Nicola Hargesheimer were passengers in the GMC. Sarah Garneau was a passenger in the Infiniti.

As of Monday afternoon, Michelle Hargesheimer was listed in critical condition. Alicia Hargesheimer was listed in serious condition.

Clarks Grove Fire Department, Gold Cross Ambulance, Minnesota Department of Transportation and New Richland ambulance assisted on scene.
