MINNEAPOLIS — For the third straight year, Minnesota’s Carlie Wagner has been selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 Team. The senior guard was one of six players chosen to the roster.
CoSIDA’s Academic All-District program recognizes student-athletes who succeed in the classroom while making significant contributions in competition. Wagner — a NRHEG graduate — has maintained a 3.59 grade point average in business and marketing education while ranking second on the Golden Gophers in scoring.
Wagner averages 18.2 points per game this year and recently moved up to third on the program’s all-time career scoring list with 2,106 points. She leads the team with 83 three-pointers made and her .419 percentage on those three-pointers. The New Richland native is also averaging 4.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
This is the sixth Academic All-District certificate the Gophers have earned in four seasons under Marlene Stollings. Wagner was a third-team Academic All-American a year ago and twice has been an Academic All-Big Ten selection.
Minnesota closes out the 2017-18 regular season Sunday at Illinois. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Big Ten Network Plus.
