Sylvia Taylor, 1920-2018

Funeral services for Sylvia Georgia (Olson) (Francis) Taylor of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. David Emmons will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albert Lea.
Sylvia went to her home on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, at Koda Community Living in Owatonna, where she had been living for the past eight years. She was 98.
Sylvia was born Feb. 23, 1920, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Severt and Clara (Iverson) Olson. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1939.
On Aug. 8, 1941, she was united in marriage to Walter Leo Francis. To this union three children were born, Sharon Leah, Yvonne Kay and Walter Leo Jr. Sylvia was a great cook and loved doing her part in making quilts at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, where she was a lifelong member.
Sylvia had been employed at Big Insurance Agency for many years.
On Aug. 31, 1974, she was united in marriage to Verle N. Taylor in Albert Lea.
She is survived by her children Sharon Kuns of Owatonna, Yvonne (Keith) Goodmanson of Livonia, Michigan, and Wally (Stephanie) Francis of Apple Valley; 13 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; stepchildren Patricia (Lou) Felix of Arizona, Julie McEwan of Indiana and Scotty (Gary) Spohr of Indiana. Also surviving is sister, Beatrice (Tootie) Lee, of Albert Lea and sister-in-law, Shirley Olson, of Mason City, Iowa.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Walter and Verle; brothers Thelmer (Tally) Olson, Sanford Olson and Orville Olson; and sisters Ruth Haried and Sybil Olson.
