Memorial services for Richard “Dick” Brekke, 80, formerly of Hartland, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday. Dick died of heart disease on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 at his home in Dallas.
Richard “Dick” David Brekke was born Dec. 6, 1937, in Albert Lea, the son of Melvin J. and Jeannette L. (Jordahl) Brekke. He graduated from Freeborn High School. In his earlier years, he was a successful farmer in the Hartland area. Dick spent his later years in Dallas.
Dick is survived by his sisters Catherine (Brekke) Anderson and Marilyn (Brekke) Gillette; nephews and nieces Kenneth (Sherri) Anderson, Jeannette (Kevin) Nelson, Jane (David) Frazer and Matt (Nikki) Gillette; and special cousin, Mike Brekke.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial donations can be made to Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Hartland.
