Duane Struck, 1928-2018

Funeral services for Duane M. Struck, 89, of Albert Lea will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ascension Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark Boorsma will officiate. A private burial will take place. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.
Duane died Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea.
Duane Maynard Struck was born Aug. 25, 1928, on the family farm in rural Myrtle, the son of Henry and Alvina (Knaack) Struck. He attended District No. 77 school.
On Nov. 24, 1950, Duane was united in marriage to Elaine Will at the Bethlehem Lutheran parsonage. Duane farmed and dug graves for Bethlehem Lutheran. He then worked for many years at Good Samaritan Society in maintenance and as a bus driver.
Duane was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church before moving to Albert Lea, when he joined Ascension Lutheran Church. He was a part of Brotherhood, the Bethlehem Lutheran Male Chorus, for over 20 years. Duane was also active in dartball at both churches. He enjoyed woodworking, classic cars, old time music and Allis Chalmers tractors.
Duane is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elaine; children LeAnn (Rick) Zerck of Albert Lea, Larry (Debbie) Struck of Twin Lakes and Lola (John) Evans of Albert Lea; grandchildren Kristin (Rick) Rice of Glenville, Wayne Zerck of West Fargo, North Dakota, Brad (Jessi) Struck of Glenville, Misty Struck of Rochester, Nicole (Justin) Rohe of Moorhead, Kammi (Tyson) Werner of Des Moines, Iowa, Adam (Jodi) Evans of Coon Rapids and Tim (Amanda) Evans of Hopkins; great-grandchildren Collin Struck, Ele and Sophie Struck, Abel and Owen Rohe, Micah Warner, Chloe, Olivia and Eli Guthrie and Evelyn Evans; brothers-in-law Dennis (Kathryn) Will and Glen Will; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Alvina; sister- and brother-in-law Ruby and Kermit Ringoen; nephews Ronald, Robert and Marvin Ringoen; and stillborn granddaughter, baby Zerck.
