State Rep. Peggy Bennett, R-Albert Lea, was endorsed by unanimous acclamation April 7 at the District 27A GOP Convention in Albert Lea. Bennett, a former long-time first grade teacher, earned the Republican backing to run for a third term in the Minnesota House of Representatives, according to a press release.
“I am grateful and humbled to have the continued trust and support of the Republican delegates,” Bennett said. “It’s been an honor to serve this wonderful area, and it is my hope to earn the continued support of the voters of 27A in November as well. I would like to carry on my work in helping solve the issues that are important to my constituents, including the current issues of the loss of critical hospital services and high cost of healthcare in our area. I have introduced bills this year to that end, and will continue to look for solutions for these issues and more that are important to this area.”
Bennett, who resides in Albert Lea, is currently serving her second term in the Legislature representing District 27A, which encompasses almost all of Freeborn County and smaller sections of four other surrounding counties. She was first elected in 2014, earning 53 percent of the votes in a three-candidate race, and again in 2016 with 61.7 percent of the votes.
