Students at Albert Lea and Glenville-Emmons schools raised more than $1,000 recently during a hat fundraiser for the 2011 Relay for Life.

Students made a donation to the Relay if they wanted to wear a hat to school.

According to Relay for Life organizers the following amounts of money were collected:

• Albert Lea High School: $92.69

• Brookside Education Center: $132

• Halverson Elementary School: $198.30

• Hawthorne Elementary School: $150.55

• Lakeview Elementary School: $193.52

• Sibley Elementary School: $388.79

• Glenville-Emmons School: $90

Total collected $1,245.87
