2 injured in separate weekend crashes

An Albert Lea woman was injured Friday in a four-car crash on Interstate 35 in Cerro Gordo County.
Salina Bredow, 35, was taken to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa by Mason City firefighters. She was treated and released. Roger Miedtke, 79, of Fairmont was taken to Mercy by Clear Lake firefighters. His condition was listed as fair Monday afternoon.
Bredow was driving a 2005 Chevy Uplander south on I-35 when she lost control of the vehicle, according to the Iowa State Patrol. The Chevy reportedly struck a cable guardrail, causing a chain reaction of vehicles to slow down.
A 2014 Peterbilt semi driven by Dave Hoffer, 45, of Huron, South Dakota, struck a 2013 Buick Enclave driven by Miedtke, pushing the vehicle into a 2010 Ford Escape driven by Daryel Hamlin, 52, of Clear Lake, according to the State Patrol.
The crash reportedly took place at 11:55 a.m.
The crash is still under investigation.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office and Swaledale Fire Department and first responders assisted on scene.
1 injured in Freeborn County crash
A Washington man was injured Friday when a van and a Southern Minnesota Area Rural Transit bus collided on an Interstate 90 ramp in Freeborn County.
Michael Howard Hunter, 65, was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea by Gold Cross Ambulance with at least one injury deemed not life-threatening.
Hunter was driving a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan on the ramp from the westbound lanes of Interstate 90 to Freeborn County Road 22 when he drove in front of a 2009 Ford smart bus driven by Christine Marie Avery, 50, of Albert Lea, causing the two vehicles to collide at about 12:40 p.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Avery was not injured in the crash.
Hunter was not wearing his seat belt, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the report states.
The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office assisted on scene.
