Constance Hoyne, 97, Albert Lea

The memorial service for Constance (Connie) Gladys Hoyne of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church. The Rev. Joel Erickson will officiate. Interment will be in Lunder Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.

Constance died Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Thorne Crest Retirement Community. She was 97 years old.

Constance was born in Hartland on Nov. 10, 1913. Her parents were Paul and Bertha (Evans) Lynne. She was baptized and confirmed in what is now the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Hartland. She attended schools at Hartland and Mankato.

She had been an employee of Kraft Foods in the 1940s. She married Herbert Hoyne at Hartland on Sept. 17, 1945.

She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church where she served on the church council, taught Sunday school and was an altar guild member.

Her main hobby was growing and caring for her flower and vegetable gardens. She also kept up on current events through extensive reading.

She is survived by her son, Phillip of Manly, Iowa; a sister, Marcella (Bernard) Paulsen of Lowville, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Holmquist of Albert Lea; nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; her parents; infant son, Allen; her brother, Evans Lynne; sisters-in-law: Lillian, Arvilla and Mary Hoyne and Bernice Hanson; brothers-in-law: Grant, Alert, Clifford, Lloyd and Earl Hoyne.
