Letter: Parents need to keep guns safely locked up

In the latest school shooting, a seventh-grade student used two handguns. How did he get two handguns? In other school shootings, the teenagers got the guns from their parents or guardians. These school shootings never would have happened if the guns had been securely locked up.

It is time to hold these parents or guardians accountable for their failure to keep their guns in a safe secure place.  They should serve time in prison. This would be a strong incentive for parents to keep their guns locked up.

This is the least that can be done to help stop school shootings. The NRA could even pay for TV ads to remind parents to keep their guns locked up.
