Ellendale to host its annual town celebration

Ellendale will host its annual town festival this weekend complete with bands, a parade and many fun events for all ages.

The festival kicks off today with a car show at 6 p.m. and the Neverly Brothers Band playing behind the bar from 6 to 9 p.m.

Festivities kick off again Friday with an all-day rummage sale, followed by the announcement of the unsung hero at the Community Building.

Saturday is filled with events for the entire family. An Alzheimer’s walk/run, a softball tournament, food, human foosball and more line the day with more than enough to keep everyone entertained.

There will be a history tour of Ellendale starting at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Ellendale park. Rides will run every 15 minutes.

The night will be capped off with the Steele River Band and Hard Days Night playing behind the bar from 7 p.m. to midnight.

Events start to wind down Sunday with a community pancake breakfast and church service.

A tractor pull and a food wagon sponsored by the Lion’s Club will bring the celebration to an end Sunday afternoon.

8:45 p.m.: Wishes in the Night, Ellendale football or baseball field

Friday

8 a.m.-3 p.m.: First Lutheran Church rummage sale at the church

6:30 p.m.: Lions Club meat raffle at Ellendale bar

6:30 p.m.: ECAG bingo event at community building

7 p.m.: Announcement of the unsung hero at community building

Saturday

7 a.m.: Rummage sales throughout town

7 a.m.-8:30 a.m.: Alzheimer’s walk registration, next to Floors 4-U

8 a.m.–noon: First Lutheran Church rummage sale

9 a.m.: Alzheimer’s walk starts; line up next to Floors 4-U

10 a.m.: Softball tournament at the ball fields behind the bus garage

11 a.m.-7 p.m.: Lions Club food wagon

Noon–4 p.m.: Free root beer floats, activities for all ages, music and snacks

12:30-4 p.m.: Second annual historical tour of Ellendale

2-7 p.m.: Kona Ice

4 p.m.: Ellendale Days parade

4:30-7 p.m.: Lion’s Club kiddie games

4:30 p.m.: Turtle race

4:30 p.m.: Kiddie tractor pull

5-7 p.m.: Commercial Club pork chop supper

6-9 p.m.: Human foosball

6:30-8:30 p.m.: Pie in the face (pie a teacher, council member, business owner in the face)

9 p.m-midnight: Teen dance at Ellendale Community Building

7-9 p.m.: Steele River Band

10 p.m.-midnight: Hard Days Night, Beatles tribute band

Sunday

8 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Lion’s Club pancake breakfast at United Methodist Church

10 a.m.: Community church service in the park; in case of inclement weather will be at Methodist Church.

11:30 a.m.: Tractor pull registration begins at the bus garage

11:30 a.m.: Lion’s Club food wagon at the bus garage
