Lake Mills’ July Jubilee set for this weekend

Many established events will return for this year’s July Jubilee, according to Cassie Johnson, executive director of Lake Mills Chamber Development Corporation.

On Friday, there is a bake sale at 9 a.m. at Lake Mills Civic Center. The Lake Mills Senior Citizens Club will sponsor the sale, which will end when all its items are sold.

Join MBT Bank for lunch starting at 11 a.m.

Registration will begin for the 12th annual 5k from noon to 5 p.m. starting at Lake Mills Physical Therapy.

Registration with payment had to be received by June 27 to guarantee a commemorative zip-up in a specific size. Extra garments will be available at registration on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration will continue at 7 a.m. Saturday, with the race to begin at 7:30 a.m. The funds donated from the race will benefit Lake Mills Youth Running Club.

The Lake Mills Area Historical Society will host a wine tasting with victorian themed hors d’oeuvres starting at 5 p.m. The event will take place at 1901 Victorian House & Gardens and wrap up at 7 p.m.

Downtown Lake Mills will have a Community Night block party starting at 6 p.m. with family- friendly games and activities on Main Street. There will be a live DJ and local food. Activities include a water balloon tossing contest, no hands pie eating contest and a mechanical bull.

The Little Mr. & Mrs. Jubilee Contest will start at 6:30 p.m.

The street dance and beer garden will open at 7 p.m.

 

Saturday

The Jubilee 5k will start at 7:30 a.m.

The parade will start at 10:30 a.m.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, an art show will be open at Oakwood Park. Free entertainment and games will also be available at the park from noon to 3 p.m.

Lunch will be available at 11:30 a.m. at Oakwood Park. The Parents for D.C. Community Picnic supports the Lake Mills eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C., each spring.

In case of rain, the picnic will be moved to Lake Mills school.

Join the Lake Mills Project Citizens class at 1:30 p.m. for the first historical walking tour through Lake Mills. It starts at Lake Mills Library and people are free to come and go as they please.

The downtown bags tournament  will start at 2 p.m. Registration is limited to eight teams.

The Kid Power Pedal Pull will start at 3 p.m.

There will be a Tot Triathlon starting at 5 p.m to fundraise for Lake Mills Aquatic Center. Ages 3-6 can take part.

The beer garden will once again open at 7 p.m. with a performance by Boogie and the Yo-Yo’z to follow at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 and kids under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Sunday

The events will wind down with an American Legion breakfast scheduled for 8 a.m. at Truman Helgeson Civic Center.
