5 things to do this weekend

1. Rock-n-Roll the Lakes

Brink your helmets and come to the Land between the Lakes for a rockin’ bike ride this Saturday. There are scenic routes of 10 miles, 30 miles and 50 miles showcasing the community and lakes. Riders can enjoy food, drinks and music at rest stops throughout the routes. You can register beforehand at rock-n-roll-the-lakes-2018.eventbrite.com or from 8 to 10 a.m Saturday. Riders can start during the same timeframe. Make sure if you plan to take the 50-mile route that you start before 9 a.m. All routes will start and end right across the street from Fountain Lake Park and travel around the Albert Lea area. Bike rides will conclude with food and music in downtown Albert Lea.

 

2. ‘Beauty and the Beast’

Albert Lea Community Theatre will perform “Beauty and the Beast” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday at Marion Ross Performing Arts Center. Come enjoy this “tale as old as time” as it depicts a story of a girl named Belle and a prince who is trapped in the body of a beast. The Beast must learn how to love and be loved so he can be released from a spell that has been cast over him and his household. Step into the enchanted world of Broadway’s modern classic as it captures your heart with a story full of anticipation, adventure and love. You will witness amazing costumes and exemplary musical theater. The musical is directed by Gordy Handeland. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students and can be purchased at the theater lobby or at the CVB.

 

3. Art and Garden Tour

This weekend is The Albert Lea Art Center’s annual Art and Garden Tour. The tour will take place rain or shine from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The tour is self-guided with a cost of $10 per ticket. Tickets can be bought at the Art Center, Addie’s Floral and Gifts, Hy-Vee and the Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau, as well as at all of the tour locations. Enjoy the gardens and artwork featured at the six locations. People are welcome to take notes and photos of all the gardens on the tour.

 

4. July Jubilee

Lake Mills will host its  July Jubilee this weekend. The events will kick off Thursday night with a movie in the park and continue until Sunday morning. Some activities include a parade, art show, street dance and more. Come enjoy a weekend of jam-packed family-friendly events with the Lake Mills community.

 

5. Deuces Wild

The Hayward Fire Relief Association presents Deuces Wild Dueling Pianos, a musical comedy act. The performance will be at the 4-H Building in the Freeborn County Fairgrounds on Saturday, starting with social hour at 6 p.m and the act starting at 7:30 p.m. Complimentary appetizers will be provided by Geneva Bar & Liquor and there will be a cash bar for drinks. Tickets can be purchased from any Hayward volunteer firefighter or at the CVB for $35 and can be bought at the door for $40.
