Senior had 3-run triple to break tie
WELLS — Kayla Stenzel had a bases-loaded triple Tuesday to break open a tied game as the United South Central Rebels softball team beat the Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton Bulldogs 9-4 in the second round of the Section 2A tournament.
The Rebels (14-5, 9-2 Gopher) and Bulldogs (0-16, 0-11) were tied at four in the sixth inning when Stenzel cleared the bases with one swing of the bat. Stenzel triple was one of her four hits. She also finished with four RBIs.
Ali Ramsley earned the win for the No. 2-seeded Rebels after striking out seven and walking one over seven innings. Ramsley allowed seven hits and was tagged for three earned runs.
Marielle Schultz and Ramsley also had four hits for the Rebels, who scattered 19 hits as a team. Tayla Sunde and Bailey Klingbeil each had two hits.
The Rebels play again at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Section 2A quarterfinals against the Mankato Loyola Crusaders (15-4, 10-2) at Caswell Park in North Mankato. The Rebels beat the Crusaders 11-4 on May 2 in Wells.
