Panthers’ season ends to Saints

The New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Panthers softball team lost Tuesday 7-0 to St. Peter in the first round of the Section 2AA tournament in St. Peter.

Saints starting pitcher Kami Smesmo held the Panthers without a hit while striking out 15.

“Hats off to St. Peter’s softball team,” Panthers coach Wendy Schultz said. “They have a great senior pitcher who threw well.”

Schultz said Steph Root played well in the outfield and threw our a runner a home plate.

“I’m proud of the way the girls worked hard this season and never gave up,” Schultz said. “We have many girls who are dedicated to this softball program.”
