An Albert Lea woman who reportedly threatened someone she knew with a knife Sunday was charged with a felony on Monday in Freeborn County District Court.

Caitlin Anne Nesje, 28, is charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.

Court documents state Nesje was charged after officers were dispatched Sunday to a residence in Albert Lea on a report of a domestic assault.

Upon arriving, they reportedly found the victim to have a facial injury, including a bloody nose, an abrasion to her right ring finger and a large bite mark on her left forearm.

The victim said Nesje came out of a bedroom with a folding knife in her hand, with the blade open and exposed. She reportedly yelled at the victim while waving her hand up and down with the knife about 3 feet from her.

Nesje allegedly grabbed the woman by the hair and struck her in the face, causing the injuries to her nose, before dragging the victim down the stairs and to the back door, court documents state.

Nesje allegedly bit the victim in the right ring finger and the forearm.

The victim was reportedly able to return to the house and call police, and Nesje was arrested and taken to Freeborn County jail.

Judge Steven Schwab set conditional bail at $10,000, contingent on Nesje engaging in no assaultive behavior, having no contact with the victim and meeting other court requirements.

Nesje’s next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 2.

As of Monday afternoon, Nesje was not in custody.
