Meyer was driving a 2016 Buick Verano north on the I-35 exit ramp to Minnesota Highway 30 when she reportedly made a left turn in front of a 2012 Chevy Avalanche driven by Daniel Eugene Schmidt, 40, of New Richland, who was traveling east on Highway 30 approaching the exit ramp, causing the two vehicles to collide, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The crash took place at about 3:45 p.m.

Schmidt and the passenger in the Avalanche, Tayler Ellen Schmidt, 12, of New Richland, were not injured in the crash.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and all involved were wearing their seat belt, the report states.

The Steele County Sheriff’s Office and Ellendale rescue and ambulance crews assisted on scene.
