A man who allegedly threatened his brother with a rifle and hit him in the back with a shovel was arrested Wednesday west of Albert Lea.
Tyler Christensen, 29, is expected to be charged with felony second-degree assault, gross misdemeanor reckless discharge of a firearm and misdemeanor domestic assault.
According to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday on a report of shots being fired at 20643 715th Ave., west of Albert Lea on Freeborn County Highway 46.
The brothers allegedly got into an argument over family issues, which progressed into a physical altercation.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Christensen picked up a shovel, hit his brother in the back and told him he was going to get a gun, retrieving a .22-caliber lever-action rifle from a pole building.
His brother allegedly heard a gunshot.
Deputies and Albert Lea officers set up a perimeter around the pole building to secure the scene until the SWAT team arrived, and an officer used a mobile public address system to contact Christensen, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
He walked out of the building and was arrested.
