Letter: Civic Music has international artists

To those who say, “There’s nothing to do in Albert Lea,” I’ve got a solution to your problem: Albert Lea Civic Music.
I talked to someone about it recently and he said, “I thought it was just local musicians.” Absolutely not (not that we don’t have many exceptional musicians in this area). These are professional musicians from all over the world. We have had choirs from Russia, acrobats from China, clog dancers from Canada, as well as the best performers in America.
I talked to another person who said, “I’m not into classical music.” Actually, classical music accounts for only one or two concerts per season. We have had a Beach Boys tribute band, a Sons of the Pioneers group, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, folk groups, pop groups and more. Our choices are taylored to the tastes of our audience. This year we are featuring Sons of Serendip, a winner on America’s Got Talent. We’re also bringing in Leon Williams, a world-famous baritone, the Lysander Piano Trio, the California Guitar Trio, and we end the year with the Boston Brass.
You can get a season ticket at www.AlbertLeaCivicMusic.com or just come to our first concert, with Sons of Serendip, at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at the high school auditorium. A season pass also gets you into Austin Civic Music and Clear Lake Civic Music. That’s a total of 14 concerts available for the low price of $45 per person or $95 for a family. Check it out!
